I am stumped with several people on my Christmas list and now I see an article that warns about gifts you should avoid for loved ones. Funny thing is, I've been on the receiving end of some of these and couldn't have been happier!
Example? Appliances top the list. Even if they say they want them. No way! I really wanted a new vaccuum one year and was thrilled when hubby came through with it! Same way with the fancy stand mixer in the color that matches my kitchen decor. It's not in this article, but I've also heard guys should never get women workout equipment because it might be taken the wrong way. I disagree - we splurged on a treadmill one year for Valentine's Day and I couldn't be happier.
Also on the "probably not" list: Gift baskets, sweaters and jewelry that chain stores advertise ad nauseum this time of year!
One item on the Kaboodle list that I tend to agree with: Avoid getting a pet as a Christmas gift. They recommend waiting until after the holidays, when it's less hectic and you'll have time to devote to helping the new addition adjust to the household. Good idea! And when the time comes, make sure you visit your local animal shelter to get that pet!
Here's a link to the rest of the "gifts to avoid" list from Kaboodle. It also includes links to gift ideas for people like me who will likely be grabbing something on impulse Christmas Eve! http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/yshoppingarticles/759/7-gifts-to-avoid-this-holiday/
