I remembered the website from Jeremy's answer to a live chatters question a few weeks ago - spaceweather.com. We received several calls from viewers Monday night wondering what the red light in the sky was. Spaceweather.com provided the answer - Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as the Northern Lights. It's an amazing show put on when energy particles from the sun interact with the earth's magnetic field.
I was so bummed I didn't see them! Growing up in Wisconsin, I remember many nights when my dad would call us out to the yard to point out the cool streaks of light moving around the skies to the north. A few years back, my memory was refreshed during a trip to Alaska, where they're an even more common site.
A few photos from Monday night are on the weather team's Facebook page. Did any of you see them? What did you think?
