Music is involved in many Independence Day traditions in Topeka. Many people sing along with a patriotic concert at Grace Cathedral. The Spirit of Kansas fireworks display is choreographed to a soundtrack played on Country Legends 106.9. And the College Hill neighborhood puts together its own band to parade through the streets.
It all brings to mind the many wonderful songs that celebrate our great nation. Of course, we have the Star Spangled Banner as our national anthem. We also have the "amber waves of grain" in America the Beautiful. We call upon a higher power in God Bless America. A more modern favorite comes from Lee Greenwood in God Bless the USA - or perhaps you're more in tune with Toby Keith's Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue!
What is your favorite patriotic song? Sing it loud and proud today!
