From Ralph Hipp
Wanted to continue the conversation from Bruce Steinbrock on 580 Radio's Sports Sanity Show yesterday, discussing why there is not a trophy to honor the winner of each year's Washburn-Emporia State football game. They didn't have a reason, and Bruce suggested WIBW Radio may want to create one to award to the victors.
What do you think of that idea? The Rams and Chiefs have the Governor's Cup, and I'm trying to think of those two schools in the Big 10 who play for the Oaken Bucket. So it would be something along that line..
And I would add to the question, should it be named for a prominent football player or coach in Northeast Kansas? Possibly someone who would share a connection with the Hornets and the Ichabods?
Maybe your excellent suggestions could be passed along to Bruce Steinbrock for his Turnpike Tussle Trophy project. I look forward to your ideas! ralph
