Months of planning, weeks of preparation, countless hours of training and installation - and a whole lot of cable! - comes to fruition Thursday night when WIBW begins broadcasting our local news studio in high definition.
I must admit, it's a bit nerve-wracking to know that it'll be easier for you to spot every blemish and stray (and gray) hair. However, the tradeoff is how much more vibrant everything else you see on the local news will be. Video is what sets television apart and our photojournalists do such a fantastic job that it's exciting to think you'll be able to see their work as it's meant to be seen. Our switch to HD also brings new, animated graphics to our newscasts, which I hope you'll enjoy - we think they're pretty cool ;-)
As with all new systems, we've had growing pains and glitches - think about your home entertainment system times a million when it comes to all the wires, connectors and everything else that had to be switched out. We appreciate your patience as we've come this far and hope any interruptions will be minimal as we forge ahead into this new age. Meantime, let us know what you think!
