I love watching the "In Memoriam" pieces at the end of each year and during awards shows. Okay, that does sound a bit morbid, but, for me, it's a chance to remember all those greats who graced us with their talents. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is feeling the heat for Sunday's installment. It left out Farrah Fawcett. Also not mentioned were Gene Barry, Ricardo Montalban, Bea Arthur and Ed McMahon. The Farrah ommission is drawing the most criticism. The Academy has apologized, but also defends its actions, saying they felt she was more known for television and her tribute was best left to the Emmys. Perhaps. But Michael Jackson was included in the montage. It could be said he was best known for music and his tribute was best left to the Grammys. In addition, Farrah supporters point out she was a 40+ year member of the Academy and appeared in more than a dozen films. If you think she was snubbed, imagine the Ricardo Montalban fans. He appeared in more than three dozen films (a screen star long before Fantasy Island) and was considered a groundbreaker for Hispanic actors. I know you can't make everyone happy and someone is bound to be overlooked, but what do you think? Was this a major flub by Oscar, or much ado about nothing?

RESPONSE: Since the show does tend to go insanely long anyway, right?
RESPONSE: Did a search and you are correct - a list of those included in the video that aired during the 2/22/09 ceremony did include Ricardo Montalban. Thanks for the catch.
