By Ralph Hipp   I came so close to writing a blog last week on how much the Chiefs have improved from a year ago, since taking out the Super Bowl champs at Arrowhead.

I take that one back.

Sunday's 43-17 San Diego shellacking puts the Chiefs and Coach Haley back in their place.  I had me thinking of the situations in Tennessee and Oakland.. benching starting quarterbacks and going to backups who are significantly more successful.. (Vince Young more so than Bruce Gradkowski.. but let's face it, Jamarcus Russell is awful.)  But in the Chiefs kingdom, ruled by Haley and Scott Pioli, is there any chance they would bench the prodigal son, Matt Cassel, on whom the resurrection of this team rests, and just give him a chance to sit down and watch?

And what was with the snap he couldn't even hold onto?  That was a quick 7 for the Chargers!  So let Brodie Croyle go out there if it's 43-17.. because who really cares?

Drop us a line about whether you think there's Matt Cassel and no one else, or whether there should be.  My next Chiefs prediction this week, is Pioli will call his Patriots friend Charlie Weis and offer him the offensive coordinator job.. if he can get Haley to share.

Croyle was best QB in pre-season but still I understood why they went with Cassel. But I don't understand why they haven't explored other options this late in a losing season? Really, if nothing else, put Brodie in and lets see how he can do, it can't be any worst. If he fails then put Cassel back in and maybe he will do better given a second chance like Young did.

I think Brodie Croyle should get some playing time and some reps at practice that would give him a chance. This season is lost so let Croyle give it a shot.

Thanks, Ron.. cuz what if Cassel is seriously injured playing in a "lost cause" game this season. Where does that leave the Chiefs? rh

You should keep your mind on the news.

Well, sometimes the Chiefs are the news.
