"Be careful with that! You could put an eye out!"

Such is the reasoning behind the W.A.T.C.H. (World Against Toys Causing Harm) list of the year's most dangerous toys. Not even Batman and children's books are out of reach.

It's not exactly fun and games. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that in 2008 at least 19 toy-related deaths occurred in the United States. Emergency rooms also treated about 235,300 toy-related injuries.

Choking hazards are a big concern. Some toys make the list because they have small parts. Safe Kids will tell you to use the "toilet paper tube test." If parts are small enough to fit through the cardboard tube, they could get stuck in your child's throat.

Sharp, pointed objects are another concern. A Play School "Caterpillar" dump truck made the list because its wheel can easily pull off, leaving the child with a three-inch metal spike.

You can learn more about the list here: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/34026708/ns/today-today_health/?GT1=43001

Happy holiday shopping!

That's nice to know but you can get hurt with just about anything. Parents need to be watchful and watch toys for wear. Heck, I gave myself a paper cut on the edge of my son's floor puzzle the other day. I check all toys over and decide if they are appropriate for my child who is ALL boy and gets pretty rowdy. :)
