Inside two weeks to primary election day, and you can tell it's getting close by just turning on the TV - political ads are in full force. The big ones we're seeing are the Lynn Jenkins/Jim Ryun GOP primary for the 2nd Congressional District. The other race getting a lot of play is Jim Slattery and Pat Roberts - and they're not even primary opponents. Looks like you'll be seeing a lot of them through November. (Jim Slattery is favored to win the primary over fellow Democrat Lee Jones of Olathe.) The ad blitz has me wondering how you prefer to get information about the people running for office. Often when the political ads come up during the news, our viewers on the live chat will comment, "Not another political ad!" I think the ads do give you food for thought, but they also urge you to delve deeper to find out what's behind the claims and accusations they make. I pose to you a question I posed to our live chat participants on www.wibw.com - how would you like to find out about the candidates? Political ads? Head-to-head debates? Extended one-on-one interviews that we post on-line? Candidate web sites? Meeting candidates in person? Weigh the pros and cons. I'd love to know what you think. And it will help us bring you the best political coverage possible.
