If you needed a reminder that just because something is old doesn't mean it's lost its usefulness, you need to head to an antique tractor pull! That's right - a tractor pull! I hadn't been to one in years before my husband and I took his dad to the Meridan Threshing Bee antique tractor pull Saturday night. I'm no stranger to the pastime. My dad and brother have been involved in Wisconsin for years, taking the old Olivers out for a run. In fact, my brother was pulling Sunday. It's kind of fun to watch them rumble down the track, trying to outdo each other. Of course, the drivers aren't really the stars - it's their rides! We got to see plenty of them Saturday night - the classic John Deere, M's, and, yes, the Olivers that my dad loves so much! I've included some video I shot with a portable recorder, just for fun. You can also find more pictures under the "From the Field" section of My Capture (find it by scrolling down the right-hand side of the home page). And if you want to check it out in person, the McLouth Threshing Bee is coming up Aug. 1-3. (More info at http://mclouththreshingbee.com/index.html). Have fun!
