The Dark Knight: my review!!!

I'll put on my Joe Zima hat to tell you just how amazing "The Dark Knight" is! Picking up where "Batman Begins" left off, Batman (Christian Bale) is doing a pretty admirable job of cleaning up Gotham City. The mob is running scared, thanks to Batman, honest cop Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and new D.A. Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart).

But don't count the baddies out yet...to take out their problems, they turn to someone they don't understand: Heath Ledger's Joker. But he doesn't want to just destroy the heroes...no, he wants to destory everything. As Alfred (Michael Cain) says, he just wants to watch the world burn.

Things go from there, with plenty of action, thrills and adventure to fill the 2 1/2 hours, which frankly, flew by. The plot thickens when Batman's main squeeze Rachel (NOT Katie Holmes) falls for Dent. That love triangle would be tough enough for Bruce Wayne to deal with if he didn't have the Joker terrorizing the city as well.

One thing that really grabbed me was the fact that the movie is practically a crime drama. There are twists and turns, and you won't want to take a bathroom break or you may get lost. There are a lot of surprises.

The obvious question, because of his untimely and tragic death; how was Ledger's performance? Let me say this: Nicholson who? Ledger owned the role of the Joker unlike anyone before (and probably anyone after). It is a real shame he won't be able to return to the role in the future. He is a tour-de-force, a pure animal tearing through the movie. Watch for his "magic trick," as well as torture video. Scary stuff.

I give "The Dark Knight" my highest grade! Go see it! But parents, be aware of the PG-13 rating...there are many scary scenes. A+
