This weekend was a disaster as we were hit with a bout of really depressing news! Despite the popular belief that news junkies and newsrooms thrive on such negative news is untrue for us. I would much rather fill our newscast with a bunch of fun and exciting things this weekend that people did as a family instead of take the desk, sit with Rae Chelle knowing we have a newscast of terrible news to pass along.
It all started on Tuesday:
21-year-old Rodney Jennings II was shot and killed in Topeka.
Thursday:
25-year-old Jana Mackey a KU student goes missing and just hours later her body is found.
Thursday two teens are shot in Holton one young lady in critical condition.
Friday Night:
A woman is hit by a stray bullet watching the fireworks in Topeka.
A mans starts shooting at his neighbors for shooting off fireworks in Topeka.
A 3-year-old goes missing in Wichita and his body is found in the pond at the park.
Saturday:
Man is struck and killed by a train in Lawrence.
A man is injured after stabbed in Topeka.
A man is held up at Gunpoint at an apartment complex in Topeka.
A man is injured in Topeka after intentionally shot at with a gun or shot at with a friework. Police are investigating whether he was hit by a bullet or Roman candle.
Jana Mackey's killer is caught and kills himself in police custody.
20-year old Timothy Lister is shot and killed in Topeka.
21-year old Ronald Orr is shot and killed on accident in Junction City.
I actually couldn't wait to get to my day off to get away from it all! So sad--and frankly I don't understand it.
