
Since I have a friend in from Michigan and I as born and raised we were talking about all the differences & here is what we noticed.
For one yes we do the above picture to point where we are from.....dorky......yet true. You don't see that in Kansas--thank God!
Michigan is 'blue state' kansas is a 'red state' culturally there is a lot more openess here on religion.
Michigan sales tax is 6% Kansas sales tax 7.5%....right? I'm not sure on this. I know it's alot higher.
Michigan has no tax on food Kansas does
Homes are cheaper, MUCH cheaper in Kansas than in Michigan
College tuition is cheaper in KS than in Michigan
Cars are cheaper to buy and more lease options in Michigan
You see a lot more convertibles in Kansas
Michigan uses salt in the winter and it rusts the cars, here is a substitute = no rust
It feels like there is a lot more open land in Kansas---Lots of water in Michigan
There is no 'up north' in Kansas like in Michigan where everyone is going 'up north' for the weekend
Cabins are a big deal in Michigan, lot of people have a home+ a cabin
Severe weather is much worse here in Kansas than in Michigan
Seatbelts are a primary law in Michigan, secondary in Kansas
Michigan has a mandatory helmet law on motorcycles, No law in Kansas
Kansas and Michigan both have democratic female governors
A lot of people commute 45 min-1hr to work in SE Michigan. Not a lot of peopel commute much here
Fashion & Music are a big deal in Detroit. Not so much here in Kansas
There is a property tax in Kansas on cars, No property tax on cars in Michigan
The econonomy is horrible right now in Michigan, seems pretty stable here in comparrison
Michigan is known for the auto industry, Kansas for its agriculture
Michigan is in Eastern time, Kansas is in Central time
There are nearly 11 million people that live in Michigan, 2.5 million in Kansas
