This Friday night I'll be working and I couldn't be more excited. For most people that would mean sitting at a desk or working late, but for me it means going to local football games (and getting paid).
WIBW is getting ready for the first Kansas Prep Zone and I'll be headed out to the Highland Park game at Emporia and the Burlingame and at Hartford.
This will be my first year actually shooting the games. I have experienced Friday Night football through some of the internships I've had over the years so I know what to expect.
It may seem like just another high school game, but for the people that go to the high school and are part of the town the game is about pride. The crowd, from what I've seen, can rival the fans at Arrowhead or at Allen Field House. It may not be KU vs. K-State, but it would be hard to convince the people sitting in the stands that it's any less important. And the excitement they have for every down is infectious.
My friends may think I'm crazy about loving my work schedule, and maybe I am, but, either way, I'll be on the sidelines with a big smile on my face come Friday night.
