Business for Sweet! - a baking supply shop in Fairlawn Plaza - surged after a popular blogger featured their products. Owners say it's all thanks to social media.
The Pioneer Woman's name is Ree Drummond. She says on her website that she grew up on a golf course in a corporate town, and now she's a ranch wife and a mother of four. She's made her name as the Pioneer woman blogging about crafty things, and her new(ish) life in the country.
She's from Oklahoma, and well known (regionally, at least) for her funny and interesting blog topics.
She's also on Twitter, where the owners of Sweet! follow her. One day the Pioneer woman was talking about throwing a cookie party, and she was looking for ideas and a cookie decorator. Through Twitter, Sweet! owners and their friends suggested Sweet! for the cookie party supplies and decorations, and the Pioneer Woman loved their ideas. She blogged about them and took some great pictures of their products. You can read it here:

Since that blog, owners say sales at Sweet! have skyrocketed. Sprinkles and cookie gift sets have been flying off the shelves. Owners say there were so many internet orders, that they couldn't even accomodate them all... pretty outstanding!
Sweet! owners say they rely on internet traffic for a large portion of their business. They say they've been blogging for years, and would suggest it, and other forms of social media, for growing businesses everywhere.

What do you think about social media -- Twitter, Facebook, blogs, etc.? Effective? Or overrated?
How do you use it in your life, or for your business?
