Hi everyone! I am WIBW’s newest reporter, and I’m happy to be in Topeka.
I recently graduated from Northwest Missouri State University (D-2 football champs, finally!) in December 2009 where I majored in Broadcasting and minored in Political Science.
I started my broadcasting experience in college radio. I co-hosted the morning show on 106.7fm. They called me “Suzie the Newsie.” I also anchored our live news show News 8 Now on campus. I interned at KRCG, the CBS affiliate in Jefferson City, Mo., and worked at 90.5 and 88.9fm, KXCV/KRNW, the NPR affiliate in northwest Missouri.
I was born in Pensacola, Fl., but moved to the Midwest at a young age, so I feel right at home here in Topeka. Truthfully though, I still miss the warm weather. I’m always cold here! Maybe it’s poor circulation.
Interest-wise, of course, I love watching the news and learning new things. I’m also vegetarian and I love animals. I have a black cat named Sassafras Molasses who enjoys sleeping and eating mostly, and manages to keep me entertained most of the time.
Most importantly, I entered this profession to help people. So if you have a story idea or experience you’d like to share, just let me know.
