Hello everyone! How are you?! I sure do miss Topeka and WIBW! Army life is certainly a change from sitting at the anchor desk or gathering information for a story. Now I have a whole year to gather dirt on the Army! Just kidding..kind of. I will document my trip as best as I can and share with you all of it when I get back (or what I am allowed to share). I'll be in Kansas City for the month of October and then the actual mobilization period begins October 27th which we will then head to Camp Atterbury in Indiana...from there....the land of Oz....um Iraq. I haven't trained 7 days a week with the army in a really loong time. The good thing is I got to spend some time with my family in Florida and California before heading to Kansas City to start pre-mobilization with my new reserve unit the 326th Area Support Group. It was absolutely great to see my family. I miss them already.....as soon as I can, I'll post pictures from that trip and the journey I've begun. This past weekend we spent it doing SRP which stands for "soldier readiness processing". Where all soldiers basically travel to various stations within the reserve unit (a building) to get all of their paperwork in order and up-to-date. For instance, stations that look at your personnel records, medical records, legal....clothing and even getting fitted for a protective mask which many call a "gas mask" (just in case we get gassed with bad chemicals while in Iraq). Fun. We will have two days off this month..and boy..am I looking forward to those two days!! So far so good though...I'll be back with more "dirt" soon. :) ~Stephanie |

God keep over you and all the Troops there.SSG SWART Posted by: Lois Location: Topeka There was a news story on air last night about a group of soldiers in Ft. Riley going through some training that was repeated in the darkness of night. They will be adding furniture, people instead of just fake people for better training....the idea is to practice so much that it becomes automatic and I'm sure that is what all your training is, too. That ol' noggin' won't have time to sort, just do it when any danger comes your way. God bless you and all of the troops. Posted by: Stephanie Location: Westmoreland I think I missed how long you said you'd be in Iraq. We look forward to your return on WIBW. God Bless You for doing what you do. My sister will be going over there soon also, hopefully there is an end in sight?! Thank You Stephanie Posted by: PS I for one, miss seeing you Stephanie! Bless you and all the troups! These stories are cool, almost like you take us as tag-a-longs! ha Take care of YOU!. oh...and lea...its more like harvest time for the farmers with the gas prices, but whatever you want to believe is cool. Posted by: Mr. N I didn't realized how much stuff there is to do before actually going over seas. Makes me tired just thinking about it. STEPHANIE: There is and the funny thing is that we go through the same training about 3 times. Here in Knasas City we'll go through our rounds of warrior task trainings then go through the same thing and more in Indiana. Make sure it sticks... Posted by: Shirley Location: Topeka Hi Stephanie. How are you doing? Just wanted to say we miss seeing you on the news and cannot wait for you to return. Please keep us posted on your activities. It will be very interesting to follow your life in the service (as much as you can tell us). You're like family and we'd like to keep up to date with you. Take care! STEPHANIE: Hey Shirley! I miss being there as well. Really do! So far today and yesterday my team of 11 have gone through various warrior task trainings. For instance, first aid...how to care for a chest wound....how to deal with a detainee...learning more about improvised explosive devices...things of that nature. I'll do my best to keep in touch and keep you all posted! :) Posted by: AW Location: Emporia Know that we are all praying for your safe mission and return. STEPHANIE: Thanks AW. Me too!!! Posted by: Lea Location: Topeka There has recently been news that gas prices are lowering, below $3, and I would love to have a story aired regarding the fact that this is a trend that occurs during presidential election years just about this time, usually by the Republicans in order to say "see how we work for you". I would like to have the story so voters won't be fooled and pay later not only when gas prices go up again soon after the election but, for at least four years after that. Thank you. Stephanie: Ok. Try emailing 13news@wibw.com Posted by: Matt Location: Marysville i deleted it after i sent you it, so i cant retrive it if u didnt get it, its in your WIBW address Posted by: Matt Location: Marysville Hi!!!! did u get my video that i sent u??? |
