Happy Birthday U.S. Army!

The U.S. Army turned 233 years old last week!!! Time flies!

Courtesy: U.S. Army. "Two hundred and thirty-three years ago, the United States Army was established to defend our Nation. From the Revolutionary War to the Global War on Terror, our Soldiers remain Army Strong with a deep commitment to our core values and beliefs. This 233rd birthday commemorates America’s Army – Soldiers, Families and Civilians – who are achieving a level of excellence that is truly Army Strong both here and abroad. Their willingness to sacrifice to build a better future for others and to preserve our way of life is without a doubt, the Strength of our Nation."

Being here at the golden cargo mission has not only allowed me to perfect my skills in the public affairs area, but also take part in some local events in and around McAlester, Oklahoma. Last Thursday I got a chance to read to some young cute little kids about the Army's birthday. Cake, punch and a story was all part of McAlester daycare's celebration. It was so nice to see how excited they were to see a girl in uniform. As I walked in the room wearing my combat boots and camo..hair pulled back...the kids shouted, "are you in the army?!", "we have a cake for you!" Needless to say they were happy. The department of defense mailed many daycares and schools, including this one, the national army birthday book and I was lucky enough to sit down in the miniature chairs and read it to them. A treat they, and I, won't forget.

Happy 233rd Birthday U.S. Army!

wow Stephanie, you are like a super woman - you seem to be able to handle so much.. you've got to be tough for the army, and sleek for the news cast. if i had a daughter, I would want her to watch you, cause you demonstrate that: you can do and be anything. keep up the great work and honorable service
