To say that I am "afraid" of spiders, doesn't even scratch the surface.  I am TERRIFIED of spiders.  In fact, deathly afraid of spiders.  If I see one, or if there is one near me (I am convinced that even though people swallow "12 a year," I do NOT), I will get physically ill, and hypervenilate.  I am the person who will SCREAM, freak out and start crying if a spider were to land on me.  Just spiders- I can handle snakes anyday of the week and twice on Sunday.  My sister is the same way.  Currently, she is studying abroad in Austrailia- and THIS is what she found in her closet- YES, IT IS REAL.  She described it as the biggest spider she had ever seen (evident, in comparison to her shirt) with FUR and FANGS.  She hasn't slept in her room since.  If that were me- I would leave the country.  Immediately.  What are you afraid of?  What creepy crawly things have you found in YOUR house?

I feel for you Amy, Im the same way, last summer I discovered I had been invaded by brown recluse spiders, nasty little creatures that live and hide in your basement.YUK!! I knew I had a problem when they started getting brave and came up stairs, I about broke my neck getting to the phone to call a pest control company.

OMG, I about fainted when i saw the picture! I am the same way about spiders, so are my daughters and granddaughters. Once my daughter broke her ribs when she tried to outrun a spider that landed beside her when she was in the shower. She screamed and turned too fast. When she fell she broke her ribs on the side of the tub. I can't stand to step on a spider, snakes and rodents don't bother me at all, but a spider will put me into a coma! Don't think you will outgrow this fear, I'm old and still afraid. Good luck

I lived in Oklahoma for 20 years, and they have BIG spiders down there. In fact they are tarantulas. Yes Dear, they are. One morninging I woke up and was getting ready for work. I was sitting there in the bathroom...without my glasses...and I saw a large dark spot on my mirror. I called my oldest daughter in to get my glasses...and lo and behold, there was a furry peeping tom on the mirror. Frightened? No, not at all. We got a jar and got him off the mirror and threw him out on the 2.5 acrew I owned...and we all lived happily every after. The snake skins in my attic...well that terrified me. Rattlesnake skins! I am petrified of snakes. I feel your pain as far as the fear factor. I sincerely hope that the spider your sister encountered was not the ones that spin the strange webs down under. Best of luck to her.

OMGGGGG!!!!! I would have to change my underwear for sure! I am deathly afraid of spiders as well as snakes. I've noticed the spiders are out earlier this year. I found one in my bed last night when I turned back the comforter and fluffed the pillows. Needless to say, I did not sleep well last night!

One time I went down stairs to do laundry. I don't like wearing shoes and I stepped on something soft. It was alittle dark and due to having small children I thought I had stepped on a small stuffed animal. I pushed it away and it made a sliding noise on the floor. Finally I turned on the light and to my shock I became ill when I realized I had stepped on a wolf spider. It was dazed I guess because it had pulled it's legs in. I was shaking when I saw the size of the thing I had just stepped on.

My wife is the same way. The only good spider is a dead and pulverized one.

I was all excited to see something about a closet (I'm a shoe junkie) BUT this... this makes me very ill. I share your fear (is that word even strong enough?) of the nasty things and this one makes me ill. I think its time for sister to come home... and fast before it gets into her luggage!!!

My personal motto is "A DEAD SNAKE IS A GOOD SNAKE". Do not really care for spiders, but it's snakes that really get me.

Amy, that appears to be one of the Australian Huntsman spiders, commonly referred to as the Giant Crab spider or the Australian Tarantula, while being large, fast and scary looking they are fairly harmless to humans.Tell your sister to look on the bright side, with that big sucker patrolling her room she probably wont see any other bugs. Compared to some other Australian spiders, such as the Red Back spider or the Funnel Web spider, Ill take the Huntsman any day.

Amy, 1st of all THANK YOU for all of your dedication to keeping us informed of the weather over the last two days, you have got to be very tired. I have had my computer set since Sat afternoon to the live weather on WIBW. YOU ALL HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB, ROCK ON WIBW, I don't watch any other station, I rely on all of you and your up to the minute info. Now to the spiders, I don't mind the tiny ones But once we saw a huge spider in the kitchen, thinking it was a mouse, My sister got up on the refrigerator with a broom and stuck it down the back of the refrig, well out came this big furry spider and hundreds of babies ran off of her back. They say it was a wolf spider. Anyway, we grabbed some clothes and spent the nite in a hotel and had someone come out and spray the next day!!

Well, as for spiders, snakes and other creepy-crawlys, I normally don't have much of a problem. But, when my youngest daughter was about 8 months old (2 years ago), I went to put her in her crib (on our 2nd floor) for her afternoon nap. As I lifted her over the side-rail, something caught my eye. I looked up to see a snake on the opposite side of the crib wrapped around 2 rungs, along the top rail and stretching up the door facing about a foot. I literally froze! I finally got up the nerve to run back through the door I had just walked through (that it was stretching up) and secured the baby in her highchair downstairs. I went back up to find and figure out how to get rid of it. It had moved underneath her crib and was very aggressive. It ended up being a 5 foot bull snake!! Needless to say, it took a very long time to put her back in her bed or even flip on the light switch without looking first.

I would move immediately. There is no way I could ever be in that room again. I think I would also have to buy new clothing because I'm not sure I could wear anything hanging in that closet. Soooo scary. Gives me the heeby jeebies just looking at that picture!!!
