| I was at the drive-thru window of a local eating establishment recently, when the lady working there recognized me. She mentioned she was watching our storm coverage one night, and heard one of our storm chase reports. "You have the greatest job in the world" she said. It didn't take me long to realize how fortunate I've been to have worked at a place where I can do what I love to do and get paid for it! Do you enjoy your job? or what would you do (other than getting paid more or work less) to change it if you could? |

We have just recently moved back to NE KS, and I am just getting caught up on all the blogs, I think anyone that gets up and looks forward to going to work, has the best job in the world for them that day. I am a military wife that works full time from home, the best job i have in the world is supporting my husband and taking care of my family both when he is home and deployed. It is also the toughest job i have ever had to do, being a military wife with children during deployments. Thank you to WIBW for their support of our troops. Posted by: George I am the branch manager for a bank which is the best job in the whole wide world. My wife is also the assistant manager their as well! I have worked at the same for 15 years but unfortunitly I will be leaving in November! I think I have the job in the world! Posted by: Lisa Location: Centralia Rob, I agree with you. I believe you have a fantastic job. I however feel I have the best job in the world. I work full time for Pottawatomie County EMS, and I couldn't ask for a better job. Knowing that I have helped someone receive the emergency care they need, is a very rewarding experience. The communities that I am involved with, have some of the best volunteers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I couldn't ask for a better place to be...Rob's response: It's great to hear when someone really loves what they do and enjoys the people they work with! Posted by: Debbie Johnson Location: Beloit My husband and I just moved our family here 3 months ago to get out of Arizona, too dangerous with gangs. I am a Homeschool Mom and I HAVE THE GREATEST JOB IN THE WORLD. I get paid knowing my kids are growing up in a truth-based school and home without negative influences. And have a real teacher for all their subjects. Posted by: TJ Location: The best state in the union My dream job would be doing quality control at a Pepsi plant. Tasting that delicious concoction from each batch. I wonder if that job comes with a good dental plan lol! Posted by: BB Location: NE KS I do love my job. I teach high school students and they are forever keeping things exciting. No two days are ever the same. I look forward to each day and when the weather gets like this.....well, I am just like the kiddos--waiting for school to be delayed!! Rob, Thanks for all the hard work you have done at your job, know that is it truly appreciated. Merry Christmas and may the New Year bless you. Posted by: cs Location: pott co. I to enjoy (actually love my job). I teach and when I am in my room it is my safe haven and all my troubles stay outside my door. I can't believe I get paid to be in a room with such delightful children. I've done it for 30 yrs. now. God Bless you Rob and all of us miss seeing you. Posted by: vickie Location: goff It was nice seening you saterday at the parade miss seeing you on weather. Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. Be safe. Rob's Response: The parade was fun! And a very Merry Christmas to you! Posted by: Jennifer Location: Burlington Rob, My son is a junior in high school. He wants to be a meteorologist. He has been looking into the college classes that he has to take. He doesn't really want to have an on air job. He would rather be in the field, maybe even as a hurricane chaser. Our questions are; what other types of jobs can he look into; being a meteorologist without having to go on the air? I also talked to him about radio, he was interested, but the pay is unknown for that field. The other question we have is; what is a good college to look into for this type of field? Thank you for your time, we will look forward to hearing from you soon! Rob's response: There is a need for meteorologists in a number of fields. The National Weather Service is a great option, along with other government jobs, i.e. working for the EPA, NASA, etc. Private companies who deal with energy and commodities are a good bet. The Navy and Air Force are in need of meteorologists too! There are a number of schools that provide good educational opportunities: KU, Missouri, Oklahoma, Iowa State, and Wisconsin to name a few. Posted by: Bryan Location: manhattan enjoy your job while you can. I have 4kids now and one more on the way, but as for a job....well ive got a felony from before i got married and had any kids and for over a year here in manhattan i cant get a job even at a grocery store or fast food. Im a vet, some college, yet one day destroyed our lives and has taken us all over the country in search of work. You should do a story on felons and what the heck they are suppose to do afterwards. I didnt serve any time in jail, just some probation time. so enjoy your job while the economy is good....oh and yes we all watch your news every day....you just might have the greatest job in the world. Posted by: Charlie Location: Lecompton It's always so good to see you back on the air! I know it isn't easy, but we really appreciate you! Rob's response: Thanks, Charlie! Your support is appreciated! Posted by: briana Location: berrryton dear rob peppers I think u have a really cool job and i want to be like you when i grow up you probably dont remember me but i saw u at price chopper and u envited me to wibw just wanted to say hi your #1 fan briana Posted by: Joye Huston Location: Winchester I have a question; I am working on some weather history. Is it possible to calculate the relative humitity if you have the temperature & mean dew point? Thanks, Rob; miss seeing you on WIBW1 Rob's Response: Dewpoint and humidity are difficult to explain. Humidity is the percentage of water vapor in the air vs. the amount of water vapor the air can hold at a given temp. Dewpoint is the temp. at which water would condense (dew would form) if the air were cooled to that temp. They both give us an idea of how much moisture is present, but there isn't a direct correlation between the two. For example, if the temp. is 70 degrees, and the dewpoint is 70, the relative humidity is 100%. But if the temp. is 70 and the dewpoint is 35, the relative humidity is not 50%. So, after all of that, the answer to your question is no. Thanks for the e-mail and the kind words! Posted by: Don Location: Burlingame It was good to see you Sat. eve. doing the weather again. Been wondering how you were getting along. Good Luck, Don. Rob's Response: Thanks, Don! It was a strange feeling being in front of a camera again. Posted by: Duane Location: junction city Rob, I am glad that you are able to enjoy your job. All of you at WIBW do a great job of keeping us posted on the weather. I too have a part time job evenings and weekends that I enjoy. That is being a cart pusher at the local Wal-Mart .I think it is great to get for work ,that I also get to excercise at. Rob's Response: I'm glad you enjoy your job, even in the hot weather. Thanks for the e-mail! Posted by: Nagendra Bahadur k.c Location: Nepal no Posted by: BARB Location: TOPEKA ROB. Posted by: Bri Location: Council Grove I want to be a meteorologist someday. That will be the greatest job in the world. Posted by: PS I too am fortunate, love my job! What would I change about it? Not much, but it would be nice for everyone to get along instead of ego's getting in the way some days. Agree to disagree and continue on. |
