From Ralph Hipp
When you go to a Royals game, and come through those front gates by the main ticket window.. you are greeted by a wonderful assortment of smells.. barbecue, brats, burgers, popcorn.. all kinds of goodies you can buy before you even see which section you're sitting in.
But it was going the other direction that led me a dinnertime treasure at Kauffman Stadium. When our family went to the Angels game Tuesday night, we walked toward the jumbotron scoreboard and the left field seats, and went in that way.
We were pretty hungry and ready to eat. Of course, with combo meals at the fast food places easily topping $7 or $8 now, we thought we'd just wait and get what we wanted to eat at the ballpark.
Our neighbors, the Neuners, love Stroud's Fried Chicken.. and Stroud's has a pretty big concession stand/ restaurant that we hadn't seen before, over by the Royals Hall of Fame. (Not a sausage, brat or hot dog eater as I try to keep my cholesterol down.. I eat a LOT of grilled chicken..) and I gotta tell you, Stroud's Grilled Chicken Sandwich is now my favorite dinner at Kauffman Stadium! What's yours?? And we go on from there to get some Topsy's popcorn with a Pepsi, and that's pretty good too! rh
