From Ralph Hipp
I perked up my ears hearing about the survey HLN reported on, where the team asked people what "luxury" they would give up to save money. (I gave you a chance to answer that same question in our wibw.com poll question Wednesday evening.)
So your choices are:
Eating out at nice restaurants.
Shopping for fun stuff at the mall.
Buying a fancy four dollar cup of coffee.
Disconnecting your cable TV service.
Discontinuing your cell phone service. (or)
Cutting off your connection to the internet.
Most of us in the newsroom thought we could go without cable (it is very expensive..) since we could see something here, or record a show here at the station. You can always keep your internet connection to check our web channel, or watch your favorite shows on your laptop from cbs.com or Netflix.
I'd be interested in hearing which one of these you'd cut, to cut your own deficit before you hit your own debt ceiling! And there's no bailout from Congress on this one. Ralph
