Charlie Sheen has gotten even more headlines than his hit sitcom this week. His hernia treatment after an all-night bender, followed by a hospital stay and right into rehab, has added more fuel to the fire about Charlie's more devastating turn to self-destruction.
On "The View," it was brought up by Whoopi today that when you're an addict, your dope is the only thing that matters, and the money it costs for Charlie Sheen is no object. They objected to Charlie asking a blonde he partied with to take on the job of watching his kids while he is wasted.
Aside from the money to fund Charlie's habits, there's also the substantial amount of money CBS is losing while Charlie's drying out. Of 10 more episodes he, Jon, Angus and Holland were supposed to complete for this season.. only two are "in the can," ready to edit and show on Monday nights. That's a potential loss of $250 million in ad revenues lost for new shows. Some reruns are in the works, and some new episodes are being ordered.
But with ShowBiz tonight releasing its poll saying 81% of the people surveyed say they do NOT feel sorry for Charlie Sheen.. I have to ask.. is it time to pull the plug on "Two and a Half Men" and give some life to new cast members and new shows, waiting for their chance to shine?
CBS is also close to ordering up more new episodes of "Mike and Molly," which has shown a lot of promise this year. And Sara Chalke is one of the stars of "Mad Love," which will begin airing Monday nights on CBS, starting on Valentine's Night. So what do you say folks, do you want more Charlie.. or more of something else?? Ralph
