We anticipated April for a long while to get ready for the 20th Anniversary for the Topeka Performing Arts Center! It began April 1st with a soldout crowd for Kenny Rogers, and the heat was turned up a few notches for Ben Vereen's concert April 23rd. It included many memories from Mr. Vereen, and quite a few notable Topekans who recorded their memories of being in the audience for Ben Vereen on TPAC's premiere night in 1991.
Then we created brand new moments and memories, just as Ben would want us to do.
So now that the two big shows have come through Topeka, with hopefully many more on the way!! we invite you to be the reviewer. Let us know how the Kenny Rogers show was at the beginning of this month, and Ben Vereen fans, write up a quick review of last weekend's concert. I was there for Ben Vereen's show since it was on a Saturday night and I didn't have to rush back to the station! I though Ben was absolutely excellent in the first half of his concert. He asked TPAC on Saturday morning to include an intermission so he could perform an even longer show, including his tribute to Sammy Davis, Jr.
The second half of his concert was absolutely unbelievable and nothing short of superb.. he just got better as the night went on! I'd love to read your comments on the shows.. Maybe you were there.. maybe you were in the audience for both shows of the 20th Anniversary bash! Ralph
