Remembering a Loved One Lost..

By Ralph Hipp

There is a sad and nostalgic element to the holidays, when someone we've loved so dearly has died.  For many, this will be the first Christmas since their mother or father, sister or brother, son or daughter, grandparent or other loved one passed away slowly or suddenly since this time last year.  Despite all they hear about the joy of the holidays, and the peace they hope will come in the New Year; there's a part of their hearts they just can't put into Christmas this year, thinking of the loved one lost.

Even in our WIBW family, we are saddened for the family of Jerry Holley, our former veteran station manager we lost this year.  And there are many at WIBW-TV who come our way only for a while.  Former production employee Michelle Roberts lost her father Tim on September 12th, when a motorist struck him as he was riding his bicycle at 53rd and Kent Place.  We just got word last week that former 13 News intern Naomi Pescovitz, a darling, darling young woman we enjoyed having here with us for a few months, lost her father, Dr. Mark Pescovitz earlier this month.  Dr. Pescovitz was killed in an auto accident driving from Michigan to Indianapolis during the severe storms hitting the Upper Midwest on December 11th.  My heart goes out to Michelle and her family.. Naomi and her family.. and to the Holleys this holiday season.

I want to give you some time and space to share the wonderful thoughts about the loved one you lost this year.  Not limiting it to that, I want you to share my blog page to share your memories of holidays with anyone who have lost in your family, and how this time of the year made you love them even more.. even after all these years.
