March Madness: Sizing Up the 4-Network Deal

By Ralph Hipp

Well, the first weekend of the NCAA Men's Tournament is in the books; and for the first time ever, all the games were carried from tipoff to buzzer in their entirety (with the exceptions of some rare switchovers to other, closer games.)  After worrying that callers would besiege WIBW with calls about where KU and K-State were on the cable guide, I eased my worried when the coverage came on.

I thought the CBS, TBS, TruTV, TNT setup was nothing short of awesome.

The banners on top were very helpful in keeping track of the four games on the four networks, the final scores and the upcoming schedule.  And the multi-network setup gave US the option of which close game you wanted to watch, or which blowout you wanted to blow off.

Of course, CBS will soon have everything, meaning the Final Four in Houston.  We're hoping to have the Jayhawks on 13 very soon, wish it could have also been the amazing Jacob Pullen Show, but that's the way things in March Madness!  KU gametime Friday night is 6:30, not on CBS, but by now, you'll know where to find it.  So share your opinions with me on what you thought of the network and cable coverage.   Ralph
