Now that I have your attention with this headline, you're probably wondering what kind of a sound I'm describing.
It's the sound of someone trying to get to JUST the right amount of money they want to spend on high-priced gasoline without going over. So they top off their gas tank by pushing the handle on the pump, a penny at a time until they get to what they plan to spend.
And the pump goes ka, thunk.. ka,thunk.. ah, exactly $20 of gas. Perfect.
Come on, really?
I've heard at least two people continually pumping on that pump handle and the sound is starting to drive me crazy. Just get to somewhere near what you want to spend and cut it off! Many gas stations have signs discouraging customers from topping off their tanks. And you certainly don't want the handle latch not to release, spewing precious gasoline all over you and your car!
So just come up with a ballpark figure and stop the gas flow. Ten more cents of gas, a penny at a time isn't going to make any difference when the price is this high.
Have you heard that ka, thunk, ka, thunk, too? rh
