March Madness is a very special time of the year for us. As you can see (to the ire of some of our viewers..) we are doing a lot more local coverage of K-State's bid to reach new heights, and KU's romp to another possible national championship. (Of course, WIBW wants KU to play Kansas State in the title game.. but we'll hope for that later! Let's not get ahead of ourselves.)
What we're hearing from viewers is they want to see every game they can possibly see, learn more about the teams, watch their incredible action, survive and advance in the perpetual Cinderella story we all love.. something like Murray State beating Vanderbilt with a buzzer beater to win 66-65.. that's what this tournament is all about!!
So how could the college football world not want this?? I crank up my annual argument again, why does Division I college football insist on its computerized formula.. instead of letting teams play for their 'one shining moment' of glory? Even though I had no doubt Alabama was better than Texas or Florida in the BCS bowl matchups.. we can only imagine the excitement of a field of let's say, 8 teams, battling it out for the championship. Everybody else does it! Write back with your thoughts on the BCS, and how it could be more like NCAA tournament time! Ralph
