Let's Talk About "Hurt Locker"

By Ralph Hipp

Just picked up a DVD of "The Hurt Locker" to watch last weekend, and paid about $17 bucks for it, since it usually costs more than that to actually go to the movies.  And the rentals to watch it four times are about that much.

Enjoyed it very much.  As fans have reported, the "Hurt Locker" is based on real war experiences in Baghdad, and looks every bit as realistic as a film.

Have you seen it yet?  What did you think of it?  Did you think their bomb defusing superman, William James, is believable?  I'd like to read what you think about James' personality.. how many Iraq war veterans you've known are "addicted to war" and can't deal with life back home.. so much so that they have to sign up for another year-long tour of duty?

I never heard the words "hurt locker" mentioned in the movie.  Did I miss the phrase?  What does the "hurt locker" mean?

Above all, "The Hurt Locker" is a film that reminds us all of the immense sacrifices our fighting men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan are making for us.  Every day.   Ralph
