 By Ralph Hipp Nominations for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards are out now.. with ten nominees for Best Picture. Five just wasn't enough.. And the ratings weren't high enough either. So that's the most obvious reason for the increase. What Hollywood may not understand from us regular folks in Kansas, is most of us may not watch the show, or care about the Oscars, because WE HAVEN'T SEEN HARDLY ANY OF THE MOVIES YET!! It's tough to get fired up about the Oscars because many times, there aren't any movies out there we can cheer for, and embrace as a wonderful film that really touched our hearts. "The Blind Side" is an example of the kind of movie I'm talking about. I'm letting you vote for that one, or any of the other 9 nominees right here! Drop me a blog line or two about which movie you would vote for as "Best Picture of 2009" with the Oscar vote I'm giving you! Remember, here are your ten choices: Avatar, The Blind Side, District 9 (J.B. likes that one a lot..) An Education, The Hurt Locker, Inglorious Basterds, Precious, A Serious Man, Up AND Up in the Air (don't confuse those two!) Let me know the movies that haven't come within a country mile of your hometown.. and the ones you loved and why you love them. Maybe we can give the winning movie my own award.. "The Hippie" as the one our voters chose over the other nine.. Thanks! Ralph |
