WIBW-TV joins in the chorus of "thank you's" to all 887 donors who helped put the Kansas Children's Discovery Center over the top on its fundraising; just in time for the September 30th deadline to land another $500,000 from a Mabee Grant endowment to help the Center get started. The grand total announced on October 1st was $6,088,447!! That includes $1.2 million dollars raised in August and September, and of course, the amazing $183,000 Topekans and Northeast Kansans contributed just on September 30th. That is a prime example of how Topekans rally to the cause when we know we have to accomplish, and accomplish it now!
Please let me know some of the reasons you wanted to contribute to make the Center a reality.. or how much your children and grandchildren will enjoy coming here when it's up and running in late 2010. (Groundbreaking is set for this fall on the site across from McFarland Farm, just across from the Zoo on the Gage Park land near 10th and Gage.) Just look for the place that's filled with imagination and serious fun for our children. Our sincere thanks again! Ralph
