From WHB to WIBW.. from Kevin Keitzman to Bruce Steinbrock, all the sports radiao talkers were talkin' about this one on their programs Tuesday. That's Royals player Jose Guillen's comments that he "sucks, I'm embarrassed to play this badly and make all this money."
"I should take my money and buy the tickets for the fans to watch us play.
Amen, Jose. You should do that. Seriously.
Don't make us pay to watch you guys if you don't care anymore. Actually, I think the Royals stars do care very much about putting on a good show for the fans. After all, look at that beautiful stadium they play in! Guillen's suggestion that he should use some of his $12 million per year to buy tickets for the fans is a suggestion the sports radio guys say he should start right away. Don't kid around about it.. do it.
You know how Denny Matthews or Bob Davis will promote an event coming up at Kauffman Stadium? So when do we start "Jose Guillen Night at the Ballpark?"
Multiply about $34 per ticket times 24,000 fans and see how much of Guillen's money will help fill the stadium. The WHB announcers said if Guillen is serious, he should buy at least 100 tickets a night to fill up the right field section for the Boys and Girls Club. I would take their suggestion much farther than that, I hope you'll help with my "Guillen Night at the Ballpark" idea. Who would you want Jose to buy free tickets for? You can buy a lot of free tickets with $12 million per season. And Jose.. don't forget.. you could donate a lot of that salary to some worthy organizations that really need it! That would make you the good guy. Ralph
