My father's been gone for 17 years now.. and now that I've been a father since just before he died of cancer, I can understand now some of the troubles and travails, and the pride and joys he experienced as a father to me and my brother and sisters. I'll be thinking of him this weekend, but mostly looking ahead to spend time with my kids. I hope they think I'm a good dad, and even thought I've sure been here at the station most of that time! I always remember what we do now as parents shapes who they'll be and how they'll live in this crazy world for the next 50 years.. As you're looking back to the past and ahead to the future on this Father's Day weekend, please let me know.. what you love the most about YOUR Dad. Happy Father's Day! RH |

My dad was the apple of my eye all his life. He was a Christian, old time country gentleman and expected we two daughters to act like ladies! He was a big man but gentle as a lamb. I never did find a husband as good as my dad and most likely never will now as I'm the eldest in my family now. I was with one of my sons and his family this Father's Day in FL and that was really neat to watch him with is two and then be there as they gave their gifts/cards to him. May God bless good fathers everywhere and may He help those who aren't good to become so in the coming months/years. It is surely a precious job to have and do. Posted by: Pam Location: Topeka My dad is deceased also. What I remember is the fun we had going fishing (ha); hunting for a Christmas Tree; snowball figts and long talks about anything and everything. Loved to hear him tell stories about his job (road construction) & going to see him do the job of putting a new road down. I will always remember the fun us kids had watching him take on mom at bing pong and checkers and card games. Plus him fixing all kinds of toys he found at the dump and cleaning them up so we would have toys. Plus bicycles for us too. I really miss him and mom too. So "Happy Father's Day, dad even though you are gone." Posted by: Don Location: Manhattan Ralph-My Father died' 14 years, but to me he is not' dead, as long as I breath, he will be alive in me. I do not believe you can take any one instance, and make it a memory that stands out, I just remember DAD. With Respect |
