The Religion of Ireland

DUBLIN, Ireland -  Our very tired tour group spent a wonderful day bussing around Dublin yesterday.  We're a little surprised that we can't call or text anybody.. gotta buy those phone cards.  This bustling city is charmingly cramped with narrow streets where they drive on the left and tons of small shops and restaurants.  We only made two stops Tuesday.. St. Patrick's Cathedral is where St. Pat baptized converts to Christianity.. and Oliver Cromwell stabled his horses outside for a while.  The church is pretty much they way it was after its rebuilding in the 13th century!  I've got some 'capture Ireland' shots on my cell phone I want to send you soon.

Today, we're a lot more rested and leaving Dublin today for Clonmacnoise.. a centuries old monastery with nine churches on the site.  Pope John Paul II held a giant mass at Clonmacnoise during his last visit to Ireland, and we even saw the place in Dublin where tons of people heard his mass at Phoenix Park when he was here.  Seeing the history, the religion and the countryside is making us anxious to hit the road!   Ralph
