One of them is the new president of the university.. the other one's his brand new athletics director, and in the audience Monday.. one's a local legendary football coach. Dr. Kirk Schulz (has he been sworn in or anything? Do they do that?) put a Wildcat jacket on John Currie from University of Tennessee (it resembled the jacket ceremony at the Masters) installing him as the 15th Athletic Director of K-State University. Given the problems of the recent dynamic between Jon Wefald and Tim Weiser, with the rocky and expensive departures of Bob Huggins and Ron Prince, it's time for a couple of new sheriffs in town.
What kind of a new dynamic do you think we'll see in Wildcat land?
Dr. Schulz says he is totally leaving the operation of the athletic department to Currie. But what if Bill Snyder says "Look, kid, let me show you how things work around here.." is Coach Snyder definitely the one in charge? Then let's say Dr. Schulz tries to stand back, but really has an issue he believes Currie needs to address. Is Kirk Schulz eventually the ultimate boss?
Share your thoughts with us, Wildcat fans, and let us know if John Currie will quickly turn into a strong leader of the department, or there are at least a couple of other strong leaders he's going to have to report to. rh
