"Christmas Story" with young Ralphie (the bespectacled kid played by Peter Billingsley) has already started showing up on TNT. They'll have their CS 24-hour Marathon soon enough. I've only seen bits and pieces of this classic movie, but never all the way through. And did you know that Phil Grecian, who helps out KTWU in their auction fundraising drive here in Topeka, wrote the stage adaptation of "Christmas Story" which runs in city after city at this time of the year? (I've gotta get him on our 4:00 show to talk about that.. Maybe Phil could enlighten me on the entire plot.)
For years, my favorite Christmas movie has been "It's a Wonderful Life." Lots of us didn't discover it until it showed up (like "Christmas Story") in countless reruns. It's not aired as much anymore, but I still have the VHS and DVD of it.. if I need a dose of Jimmy Stewart.
How about you? What's your favorite holiday film? Maybe "Elf??" That was on TV the other night, too. I like Will Ferrell in that, and have always been a Bob Newhart fan, especially after seeing him live on stage at TPAC. So that's definitely on my list, too. Look forward to reading your list! Ralph
(p.s. Look for the grown-up Peter Billingsley of "Christmas Story" with a cameo role in Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn's new movie "Four Christmases.")
