Never give up until the contest is over. You can finish last and then come in first.
Actually, I'm not talking about the John McCain campaign. I'll get to that in a minute.
I'm talking about the Tampa Bay Bucs and the Rays.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers overcame the biggest Chiefs lead ever given up for a loss in the history of the team, and fought back until the last minute (and beyond that!) to win their game against KC Sunday. This was only four days after their baseball counterparts, the Tampa Bay Rays DID come up short in their bid to win the World Series. But the Rays should be proud, too. After languishing in the basement as the worst team in baseball last season, with Joe Maddon they miraculously won the American League pennant.
Lessons in sports, lessons in politics.
John McCain is not giving up until the last vote is counted. And he shouldn't. Barack Obama has done a beautiful job of encouraging his supporters not to let up early.. thinking his race for the White House is in bag. Letting us all vote tomorrow is the one chance we have to get in the game, be a part of the process, and never give up until the clock runs out.
I'm so excited about our projected 80% turnout tomorrow. Go out there and make your voice heard!! And where's that other 20%?? RH
