Sing that Dolly Parton song along with me now, folks!  Would you like to switch over to a 9am to 7pm shift at work with Fridays off? (21 workers at Lawler Gear Corporation in Lee's Summit, MO have been working that shift since 1980.)

Shutting down the plants and offices on Friday also saves a bunch on the power bills.  But do you think it would really save us that much gas by not coming in?  I like the idea, but news doesn't stop on Friday.. so it doesn't work for us too well.  Let me know about your job, your boss, and workin' 9 to 7 just four days a week.  (Gotta make sure you park the car on Fridays.)   RH

At least they have a job. I was just let go from a local manufacturing that I worked at for 16 years. They said my position was eliminated. Three years from retirement and third on seniority list, I feel I was fired because my Deg. Disc Disease and arthritis in my spine, knees, and hands. I have lost a new home and now my job. My wife is considering taking a third job to make ends meet. Everyone tells me things will get better, but it can't happen fast enough. Disability is so hard to get, we may soon be living the street.

I get every other Friday off because I work nine hour days. 10 hours is a long day at a desk but it would be worth it to have the extra time at home.
