I'm normally the guy here at 13 News who gets to watch the City Council meetings.. sometimes live, but mostly on tape. (That way we can see and hear the exact wording of what the council says, and play it back 2 or 3 times to understand the meaning. Believe me, on some of those legal issues.. you have to!) But there was no mistaking that Mayor Bill Bunten meant to be in charge at City Hall last night. He is strongly urging the council to sit down with him and talk about why they want to write up "communications" so they can get around his veto. He's asking them, "why do you want to do this? Is it about me? Just tell me."
It's a good call on this long, dragged out issue of whether the police department should get a new helicopter. Legal hot water could be boiling over their meetings on this issue, and we'd like to know from you.. if the mayor's call for a summit to clear the air might end this once and for all! RH
