Swift Justice

By Ralph Hipp

This is that time of the year when people, who are comfortable in their routines and the programs they like to watch, get a little shakeup when the new fall schedules come out.

We've received several phone calls wondering where some of the court shows are, where Ellen is, and how much they want "their shows" in the afternoon.

Then think about when "As The World Turns" goes off the air this Friday from 1:00 to 2:00!

That's a network and sponsor decision, and nothing about WIBW involved with that one.  "Soap operas," or daytime dramas are really costing a ton of money to produce.. and in this economy, corporate sponsors like Proctor and Gamble are selling shampoo and toothpaste, and not producing soap operas as they did from the 1950s on.

It's usually syndication contracts expiring or changing that allow us to drop a show like "Ellen," and grab on to a new show like the one that's on at 3:00 now, Nancy Grace's entry into the syndication scene on local stations around the country.  Her program, "Swift Justice," is a half hour crime-busting show.  We show two episodes that hour, before we go into our Topeka talk show at 4:00 that you seem to like very much (and I appreciate that!)

Let me know if you've seen Nancy Grace's show, some of the cases that have drawn your attention and if you like the show.  Particularly coming on right after her show, I'd sure like to know your reaction!   Have a happy afternoon each day..   Ralph
