Jamaal Charles. Eric Berry. Dexter McCluster. Javier Arenas.
Only Jamaal had to live down Kansas City's dismal 4-12 season last year. He once told Coach Todd Haley, "Coach, give me a chance. I don't want to be good. I want to be great."
His race to the end zone last night was great.
Former SEC stars like Berry (Tennessee) McCluster (Ole Miss) and Arenas (Alabama) only know that they have the power to help turn the Kansas City Chiefs around right now. They have already made their statements in Monday Night's 21-14 win over San Diego. Now the Chiefs, leading the AFC West by virtue of all our opponents losing their first games, will have to continue to improve and fight the urge to get cocky, believing they have "already" turned this franchise around in one week.
How do you size up the super-draft Scott Pioli organized, and the youth movement they hope will carry Lamar Hunt's team to the Lamar Hunt Trophy? I can't wait for week 2! (Chiefs travel to Cleveland Sunday.) There are 15 games left, a long way to go. But it'll be fun to watch, and now CBS and WIBW have nearly all the games on our station this fall. We'd sure like to have you share your thoughts about the Chiefs 2010 edition. How far can this team go? Ralph
