It sounds funny to say, but coming back to work after over a week off is kinda nice. We've been working on an addition to the house since summer.....and it's been a long six months.
Yes, I could have hired someone to do the concrete, framing, electrical, drywall, and finish work, but that's just not me. I suppose you could call me Norm from This Old House, or you could just call me cheap. Whatever the title, I'm about ready to relinquish it.
Long hours attaching new rafters to old ones in dusty dark places takes a toll. I've had several colds that I attribute to the tons of dust I've inhaled.
But an end is in sight. The city inspectors have been very helpful in answering questions and giving us guidelines, and my family continues to show up to help the wife and I lift windows in place. When the last nail is in place, we hope to have a new space that we will enjoy for years to come. For now, I'll just enjoy sitting at my computer at work....breathing clean air!
Here's a look at a little of the project:
4" of rain fell right after we dug the footings...creating a mess! Weather cleared...concrete poured...framing started.
Brother in law checking my work for square. Outside all framed in.
Lots of work to do inside. Wife's second favorite window.
