I've been reading and hearing a lot about the Florida woman who called 911 (three times) after being told by a McDonald's employee that they were out of Chicken McNuggets.

Talk Show hosts have been having a real good time make fun of the situation.

Don't get me wrong......YOU DON'T CALL 911 UNLESS THERE IS AN EMERGENCY......but I think these people are missing part of the story.   The woman asked for her money back and was told the restaurant doesn't give refunds.

When you're in the mood for McNuggets, sometimes a Quarter Pounder won't do.

Here is where I give the woman a little credit....but let me first say again..... DON'T CALL 911 UNLESS THERE IS AN EMERGENCY.  That said, at least she tried to get law enforcement involved.  Too many people just flip-out and try to handle the situation by using force, which usually ends poorly :o(

Maybe she legitimately thought she was being robbed, cheated or scammed.  I just wish McDonalds had given her money back.  They could have avoided some negative publicity and the woman could have avoided being cited for misusing 911 and becoming the butt of many jokes.

What do you think?

Doug

She should have had her money back right away. No she should not have called 911. McD's need to redo their policy in a lot of things. That's why I don't eat there.

If a food place has what the person ordered, then they shouldn't get their money back, but if the food place doesn't have it, then the person SHOULD get their money back, if they don't want a replacement. To me it's not the same as a refund. It's not the customer's fault the food place doesn't have what they want. McDonalds should rethink this policy in some cases. Such as when they don't have what a person wants, or else check to see if they can fill the order before taking the money

I had no idea McDonald's had this policy. I agree she should have gotten her money back.

If Ms. Goodman had stolen 5 dollars from McDonald's and the manager called 911, she would have been promptly arrested. If a respected business steals from a poor person, the poor person is ridiculed across the globe for not knowing how to seek justice. I will NEVER eat at McDonalds again.
