On a couple occasions recently, I've had to fill out questionnaires about myself. They ask the usual questions about job, spouse, pets - those are the easy answers. They've also asked questions that involved a bit more self-reflection. It's an interesting exercise to really think about things like your personal formula for success, what you like best about the work you do, the most influential person in your life and who (past or present) you'd like to have dinner with - and why.
Another question they've asked is what is my favorite quote. Hmmmm... so many people have said so many things, how do you pick just one? This question came up on the questionnaire for the "20 Under 40" honorees. Among the answers some of the others gave:
"Be the change you want to see in the world." -Mahatma Gandhi
"Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it." -Goethe
"I always wondered why somebody didn't do something about that, then I realized I was somebody." -Lily Tomlin
"With great power comes great responsibility." -Uncle Ben (Spiderman)
All of those are great. I thought about it and chose this as my answer:
"Remember to play after every rain." -Mattie J.T. Stepanek, MDA Goodwill Ambassador who died at the age of 14
What's your favorite quote?
