If you drive around Topeka this Friday and Saturday, or next Friday and Saturday, you'll likely see Topeka Fire Dept. trucks and firefighters. No, the city isn't erupting in flames. These fine men and women will have their boots in hand, hoping you'll help fill them up with cash and coins for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Here's where you'll find them from 9 am to noon each day:
The firefighters from Topeka and all around northeast Kansas have been tremendous partners for MDA over the years. Manhattan's firefighters held their "boot block" over Memorial Day weekend and came up with $13,000! It's not just major city departments, either. Soldier Township firefighters will be out Saturday at 46th & Topeka Blvd., 46th & Rochester, and the Hunter's Ridge area near 46th & Hwy. 75.
They appreciate your generosity as you drive by this weekend. We'll find out the various amounts they raised (with your help!) on the MDA Telethon, which you'll see from 6pm to Midnight, Sunday, Sept. 4th - note the new day and time this year!
