Victoria Mars issued a challenge to Topekans at the groundbreaking for her company's new candy factory in the Capital City: Eat more M&Ms... and Snickers... and Twix... and.. well, you get the idea! Her point was that the way to ensure the company would stay in Topeka was to help feed the company's success. Buy their products, the company keeps making money, their facilities remain in operation.
Do you think about such things when you head to the stores or even when deciding to which stores you'll go? You might think about the concept of supporting local businesses in terms of frequenting the locally-owned and operated companies around town. The request from Mrs. Mars might have you applying this to national companies operating in Topeka. Do you buy Sun Chips and other Frito Lay products? Do you choose Del Monte or Hills pet food products? How about driving on Goodyear tires or buying Hallmark greeting cards?
It's food for thought that, I admit, as much as I love Reece's peanut butter cups, does have me lingering near the M&Ms lately!
