If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you know I've been trying to keep up on my running this summer. I feel better when I exercise, but I've also been working toward a goal of running a second half marathon.
Since Amanda Lanum, Amy Schmidt and I logged our first 13.1 mile event in April 2010, Amy has gone on to run three FULL marathons, while Amanda has logged a couple more at the half distance. I did do a second ten-mile race in spring, but I want to be able to prove to myself that I could make the half-marathon again.
I'm not sure where, but info for the Run for a Reason caught my eye. It's a 5k and half-marathon right in Topeka. The event raises money so kids can attend sports camps at Washburn University. While I pretty much knew I wanted to do it, I didn't start saying it out loud to very many people until just the past couple weeks. I logged my miles and mulled it over with some running friends. Now, I am prepared to toe the starting line and meet the challenge this Saturday morning, Oct. 8 Bless my husband for supporting my crazy ideas!
Kudos should go, too, to Amy and Amanda. Amy just completed the Twin Cities Marathon last weekend, and Amanda will be runnng the Wichita Half Marathon on Sunday. Way to go, ladies!
