Primary Elections: Temps Aren't the Only Thing Heating Up

Check your calendar - the August primary election is less than a month away! Lots of candidates are heading out door to door - I know I've come home to a fistful of fliers stuffed in my door!
I think all elections are important, but this one might be especially important to educate yourself. At a recent family gathering, discussion was how many realized they're now in a different State Senate district. I'm also seeing a lot of different names on campaign signs around my neighborhood.
This election is also bringing up several primaries where incumbents are facing aggressive primary challenges. In Topeka, the Vicki Schmidt / Joe Patton race comes to mind. Many of these races bring basic ideological differences, so check the views from both sides before you head to the ballot box.
The primaries might feature a bit more heat than usual this time around. Pay attention and participate - it's your government!
