I don't know the Weichert family but I can only imagine how tough the road must be for the family member around whom they've all rallied.
Isaac is 10-years old and fighting cancer. Last month, that fight cost him his leg. Due to recurrent tumors, a blood clot and an infection, doctors were forced to amputate it. The family would like to get Isaac a fitted prosthesis for the leg so Isaac can run, bike and play soccer. In other words, he'd like to be able to do the things other boys his age are able to do.
Trouble is, their insurance won't cover the cost. The family is told it could be as much as $25,000. To help, Via's Pizzeria, 738 SW Gage Blvd., is hosting a benefit for the family. All tips from 5 to 9 pm Wednesday, July 27th, will be donated to "Team Isaac" in the hopes that he'll be able to get the appropriate prosthetic leg.
Photos I've seen of Isaac show him smiling and loving life. Imagine how big that smile will be the day he's able to run on two legs again!
