It's almost time for that fantastic Sunday where people worldwide gather around televisions set to experience the sporting phenomenom that is..... Super Bowl commericals!
True, the game is SUPPOSED to be the centerpiece - and it still will be for Matt Blanchette as he hopes to cheer his beloved Tom Brady to victory. But, for a vast number of people, seeing how companies choose to spend their $3.5 million to entertain or enlighten you for 30 seconds is an even bigger part of the fun! That's right - the average 30 second Super Bowl ad sold for a record $3.5 million this year. By contrast, in Super Bowl 1 (when my beloved Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs), a 30 second ad sold for $42,000 ($266,500 adjusted for inflation).
What do you think? More than 100 million are expected to tune in Sunday. Will you? And what are you most excited to see - the game, the commercials....or maybe Madonna's halftime show?!
By the way - even though my beloved Packers are not playing, I still plan to wear the custom jersey my hubby got me for Christmas, but I will not be sporting the Cheesehead this year!
